Egg Chair
Arne Jacobsen / 1958

Originally designed for the lobby of the Royal Copenhagen Hotel, the Egg continues to be one to the world's favourite chairs. A celebrity unto itself, this chair has made an appearance in the Men in Black and Austin Powers films, and has famously seated the Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe. The Egg also features in the lounge of JFK airport in New York - a sumptuous treat for club-class travellers.

Originally created in Jacobsen's garage, this was the chair that would go on to inform the shape of contemporary furniture.

It was designed to cradle the human body and seductively promises to provide a private sanctuary inside its curves. The Egg is a classic - one of those rare creations that will never go out of style.
